‘Mrs Fletcher’ Review Episode One: A Slice Of Reality

Mrs. Fletcher is latest in a long line of wickedly twisted comedies being churned out by HBO. Some have certainly missed the mark while others have flourished. Miss Fletcher not only seems to flourish, but it also appears to have the potential to have a lengthy run on HBO. Yes, I understand that it’s being referred to as a limited series, but this series will catch on. It’s smart, witty, and Kathryn Hahn and Casey Rose Wilson are wonderful (especially Hahn).

The premise behind the series stems from Tom Perotta’s bestseller. The show centers around a single mom who is faced with the changing world around her now has to cope with being alone (her son is going off to college). We begin to see the naive nature of Mrs. Fletcher melt away as she starts to explore what life would be without her son in the house. Hahn is the perfect choice to play the lead role. Not only does she have the look, but her sense of humor and chemistry with the cast also makes the show top-notch. We do get some foreshadowing as to what’s coming up this season, and if it’s anything close to what they hinted at, then fans are going to be thrilled.
